Rating Rage

I was talking to Sea Dave, aka C-Dayv 3000, aka SuperAquaDaveBot.

"What have you been up to?" I asked.
"I have killed a man" he replied.
"Any Good?"
"Pretty good, yeah. Exciting."

I asked AquaNinjaDave-O-Tron to rate it, out of 10.

"Solid 6. Maybe 6.5" he replied.

Now, call me a stickler for protocol but surely this makes a mockery of the whole 10 point system?

If you use half points, then there are not 10, but 20 possible levels of points. If I wanted a score out of 20 I would have asked for a score from 1 to 20. If we're talking about decimals then there are 100 levels of pointage.

We need to be clearer on this as a society, and lay down firm rules, or we will sink into an abyss of chaos. It is simply unacceptable to allow this madness to continue. Something must be done. We need a law that clearly states that only integers are acceptable when rating things from 1 to 10, or 1 to anything for that matter, unless clearly stated otherwise.

Integers. Only integers. Unless otherwise stated.

I shall be writing to the queen forthwith. I urge you to do the same.
