tl;dr? Giant 'meat-eating' plant found. They're real, they eat rats and live in the Philippines and named after David Attenborough.

How long does the fine members of RG predict it will take until we can force evolution on these to create a super species similar to Audrey II?

We'll need to get tissue samples and determine of there are any double haploid individuals. That would greatly expedite the process.

A bit of Triffid DNA and a tad of GM experimentation, Bob's yer uncle.

I wonder if meat eating plants taste better than normal plants?

 That's a very interesting question, even if they didn't taste better...do they have different phyto-nutrients for getting their nutrients the way that they do? Would they utilize nitrogen differently? What is there amiono acid profile?

Those questions are all too complicated.

I just want to know if they taste good.

Meat-eating plants would probably taste far nicer than your average soil-nutrient sucking type of plant, similarly, predatory fish taste much better than the ones that eat gobfuls of mud and whatever else happens to be living in it.
Carnivorous mammals however are not favoured as a culinary delight, apart from in several oriental regions ( China included ) where dogs are bred for that specific purpose.
Lets face it a meat eating plant cannot possibly taste worse than a parsnip or olive, unless of course you happen to be a parsnip or olive enthusiast, with a penchant for horrible tasting veg.
My brother-in-law works regularly in China, and recently brought back a menu which listed such amazing dishes as "Dog skin soup"
Yum Yum I do so appreciate cultural differences and how they can induce repulsion to one culture, yet make another cultures collective stomach rumble at the thought of a delicious starter.
Live monkey-brain eaten from the monkey's head whilst it is restrained is another popular dish in certain foreign climes, most of us would consider it barbaric, but not the people eating it, they consider it a delicacy. ( Sorry for that one but it does happen )
Personally I would rather eat the meat-eating plant every time.
That would make me a Meat-eating-plant-eating-what could possibly be a vegetarian, or would veggies be banned from eating something that eats meat, by the very nature of their convictions?
Bizarre!!!

Huge amounts of apologies for that Trix, and everybody else, in fact about a lorry-full.
I was in a particularly odd frame of mind at the time, and went off on a rant about things that repulse me, ( including parsnips and olives ) so again many many apologies to anyone who I may have offended.

I quite like both parsnips and olives. It wasn't the content of your post that sent me spinning.

Oh no, what have I done? , does this mean I need to apologise for my derogation of parsnips and olives? or possibly just keep things brief? ( I'll try the latter )
p.s. I can think of nothing worse than being eaten alive by giant carnivorous aubergine, avocado pear or kohl rabi.

Don't apologize, or change!

I was merely overcome with amazement at your circular and accreditative use of rhetoric. You, sir, are a master.

Death by parsnip would not be a good thing, admittedly.

Death by aubergine would be especially bad.

Would raise a snigger in the coroner's office, though.
